Karen Doyle is a local Impressionist oil painter and the Artist in Residence at Edge Coffee on Millikan Way in Beaverton. In December, she invited additional Alla Prima Portland artists into the coffee shop gallery. Ben Jones and Brenda Enyert, manager and owner of Edge Coffee, love having the local artwork adorn their walls and the customers enjoy looking at the paintings, all of which are for sale. Doyle and the Edge owners get a lot of pleasure from helping others grow their art careers by providing a place to show and sell their work.
The current show launched during the second week of March and features Karen along with two other artists Kristina Sellers and Joanne Radmilovich Kollman, all of whom are members of Alla Prima Portland.
Karen Doyle is showing small landscape paintings. She paints in an Impressionist style, both outside en Plein Air and indoors in her home studio. “Since 2016, I have traveled with my oil paints and painted in Oregon, Arizona, Hawaii and southern and central California. My paintings at Edge this spring are from trips to Maui and San Diego as well as our local Tualatin Wildlife Refuge, and depictions of flowers from Al’s Garden Center in Sherwood, Oregon. I enjoy painting aspects of my everyday life. I'm able to create a lasting memory - every time I look at one of these paintings, I can vividly recall the experience of being there” says Doyle. Karen travels every spring to the annual Plein Air Convention and Expo, where about 1,000 painters gather to learn, connect, and paint together for a week. This April she is traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico for the event. This photo is from last year's convention in San Diego, California.
